18 NOT SO SCARY HALLOWEEN ROMANCE BOOKS

HALLOWEEN ROMANCE BOOKS FOR THE SPOOKY SEASON - JUST LIKE GILMORE GIRLS

I am all for a good scare during the Halloween season (with my books and only my books, I’m a chicken when it comes to movies and real life scares), but sometimes I want a nice cozy Halloween book to curl up with too. I basically just want to be transported into Stars Hollow while reading.

For my fellow not so scary Halloween book lovers, here are some of my favorite cozy witchy romance books, as well as some that I still have my eye on.

Pumpkin Spice and not so nice book to read for Halloween - Just like Gilmore Girls
Black With Magic cover: black woman in a witch hat holding a glowing book
book cover for Love in the time of Serial Killers: white woman holding a book in front of her face looking off into a corner

What The Hex

A Contemporary Romance Novella set in Miami, where the richest and most powerful Latinx witch families live. The main character returns home for her sister’s wedding and finds out that her soon to be brother in law is actually possessed by a demon. She enlists the help of her childhood rival and brother of the groom, to defeat the demon.

There’s One Bed, Enemies to Lovers, Magic, and it sounds adorable!

*NOW AVAILABLE IN BOTH AUDIBLE AND PRINT*

The Ex Hex

A contemporary Romance about a young witch who set a curse on her Ex Boyfriend immediately after breaking up…As time passes and she comes back to her hometown she realizes that her little “ex-hex” had a lot more consequences than she anticipated.

Not the Witch You Wed

Super cute Contemporary Romance where a magicless witch and a wolf shifter have to fake being mates in order to comply with Supernatural law.

Fake Dating Trope!

All I Want for Halloween

This is a Romance Series of Stand Alone books, with this being Number 12. I haven’t read it yet but I have been told you can read them out of order without any trouble. The main character attends a costume party a month before Halloween and falls in love with a mysterious stranger…She soon learns this stranger is actually a celebrity.

The League of Gentlewoman Witches

Somebody get me a fainting couch cause this book is totally swoonworthy! This has the perfect combination of fantastical elements and romance. It’s honestly just a lot of fun, and has just the right amount of bookish references. Plus there’s a sexy pirate.

Go Hex Yourself

I originally read this because I was told that it was inspired by Reylo (Kylo Ren and Rey from Star Wars) fanfiction and I was 100% there for that. If I hadn’t known that was the inspiration I never would have caught onto it, but it does have enough similarities that I was satisfied with continuing to call it Reylo Fanfic.

It’s about a young woman who interviews for a magical witch familiar position, even though she has no idea what that is, and in the process falls in love with the dark brooding nephew of the woman she works for.

I pictured Adam Driver as the main male character the entire time and I am not at all sorry for that.

Paybacks a Witch

This one gives major Stars Hollow vibes and I totally approve. I read this right before Halloween last year and it was the perfect seasonal read! Thistle Grove is a small town full of magic and magical beings. Emmy is a witch with a small amount of power and she hasn’t been back home to Thistle Grove in years. She comes back into town during a spell casting tournament and finds that she has more power than she once thought…and a score to settle with an ex.

A Letter to Three Witches

This one is marketed as Bewitched meets Practical Magic and I can’t honestly think of a better Fall sounding read than this! A trio of witches experience some romance problems, which in turn causes their powers to go haywire. Their families have all been banned from using magic but they are determined to get their magic and love lives back on track.

What The Fang

A forbidden love story between a vampire and a new witch who rolls into town. Willa moves to Charleston after being shunned by her coven for failing the Summer Solstice Rite. But it’s a place that no witch wants to be since it belongs to the vampires. She opens up a bookstore in town, has a telepathic connection with a sexy vampire, has sexy times and there’s magic. It’s a necessity in your Halloween time reading.

The Cottage On Pumpkin and Vine

In a small town in Maine there is a Bed and Breakfast that is hosting their annual Halloween costume party. There is also a local legend that says that wishes are granted to the guests that stay there…

That’s all I know about this book and that is all that I need to know to make me add it to my TBR this year! It sounds like Gilmore Girls and Practical Magic and I am down for both.

Witch Please

This is a book about a modern witch that begins to have feelings for someone she shouldn’t. That’s right ladies and gents…we have a forbidden love story here.

When Life Gives You Vampires

A plus size woman is unexpectedly made into a vampire and must now learn to love the body that she will be in for eternity. I personally enjoyed this one. The dialogue is very kitschy, and the plot was super original which I loved. The main character gives some “I don’t know the word no” vibes, but he is an old vampire and that’s kind of their thing.

If you are looking for a paranormal read for Halloween that isn’t too over the top with supernatural shenanigans then this one might be a good pick for you!

The Date From Hell

I’ll be 100% honest and say I wasn’t a huge fan of the first book in this series, Not Your Average Hot Guy, but I think you could skip it and just read this one. This one is cute. It’s basically about a human girl dating the prince of Hell…who is a lot more down to earth than you would expect. LOW SPICE

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches

Mika spends her time alone, trying to stay away from other witches so that their powers wont mix and draw unwanted attention. But when she posts videos online “pretending” to be a witch, someone believes her and asks her to help train 3 young witches. When she arrives to help, she begins to form a new and quirky found family of her own.

Black Witch Magic

Selene is a librarian by day and cursed witch by night…so it’s a good thing her TBR pile is extra long. Selene is from a small town who believes her to be descended from an evil witch. She typically sticks to herself and her books, but when a paranormal private investigator comes into town asking questions about her grandma she knows she must keep him from discovering the truth.

Love in the time of serial killers

This one came out in September and I cannot wait to dive into it! The book is about a woman who is dating, and also happens to be obsessed with true crime podcasts. I can only imagine the scenarios that she plays in her head every time she meets a new guy!

Mr. October

I am 100% here for the cover even though I know nothing about the book! Someone recommended it on TikTok and I searched it on goodreads immediately, but was disappointed to find no description. Still, it looks adorable and I will probably add it to my kindle reading list for the season!

Pumpkin Spice and Not So Nice

This is another kindle title that I am hoping to add to my reading list this year, but it has been described as a perfect slow burn Autumn read with a grumpy male character so…sold.

Make sure to check out this adorable list of Bookish Halloween shirts too!
