6 Sweet Cozy Fantasy Contemporary Romance Book Recommendations

Cozy Fantasy Romance book banner

I love a good Cozy Fantasy with saving the world adventures, but I also love a Contemporary Romance where witches and fairy’s and dastardly demons are thrown in to compliment a cozy fantasy vibe. These are the books where the romance is front and center, the characters worlds look similar to our own but they have the addition of magic and magical beings without being dark paranormal reads, and there is always a HEA (Happily Ever After). IT’S GOOD STUFF!

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches

This is the perfect blend of contemporary romance with cozy fantasy and it feels like a warm hug after a long day. I adore this book, and everyone should read it! One woman is hired to help teach a group of young girls about their magic after she posts some “witchy” YouTube videos…only problem is, you’re not supposed to tell anyone you’re a witch and witches definitely should never cohabitate together.

This one is for fans of the grumpy sunshine and found family tropes!

The Witches Guide to Fake Dating a Demon

What happens when a powerful witch, who hasn’t learned to control her magic, accidentally summons a demon for a soul bargain when trying to bake muffins? Well, let’s find out!

We’ve got a lot of tropes competing for spotlight in this book: Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, fake dating, a bit of grumpy sunshine, forbidden love, and witches and demons. It’s honestly one of the cuter books I’ve read in a long time, and I recommend it to fans of Talia Hibbert because of the similarities in banter and dialogue between the characters.

The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy

This is set in an alternate world where marshals fight magical demon like beings, but it mimics our own contemporary world close enough to be included in this list. It is a loose retelling of You’ve Got Mail, and there is so much nostalgia in that alone that I automatically include it in all my romance recommendations. The spicy scenes are limited but pretty spicy when they happen.

The Bakers Man

If there has ever been a book that was made to be adapted into a Hallmark series, this is it. The best way to describe this book is charming.

I think fans of this book would also love indie author Penny Mcintosh’s book Vixen’s Diner. There’s no magic but it has all the same charm and heart.

The Unfortunate Side Effects of Heart Break and Magic

This was marketed as Practical Magic meets Gilmore Girls, so I immediately knew that I needed to read it and requested the ARC through Netgalley. The book comes out September 19th so it’s perfect for seasonal readers who enjoy reading magical realism in the Fall/Autumn. It definitely fit all of the Practical Magic boxes for me but fell a little short for the Gilmore Girls comparison. However, its a sweet book about love, loss, self discovery and magic.

Morning Glory Milking Farm

Listen, this is really more monster romance than cozy fantasy but there are magical beings in this contemporary romance so I am saying it counts. It is one of the strangest things that I have ever read, and I blame TikTok for making me curious to read this. However, there is something so bizarre and weird about it that also makes it fun. This is not for everyone but if you’re looking for a wild romance, with spicy minotaur men who like to get milked…I’ll let that sink in…then go ahead and give this a try.
