7 Steamy Contemporary Romance Books to Read for Valentines Day

Contemporary Romance Valentines Day Reads - Just Like Gilmore Girls

Ahh, love is in the air. Who here is all for the cheesy Valentines Day goodness? If you’re a Contemporary Romance fan you know what I’m talking about! I’m talking giant boxes of chocolates, bouquets of roses…and a substantial gift card to the Bookstore because who needs jewelry?!? 😉

If you’ve got yourself a hot date this Valentines Day, I feel like its not out of line to ask for some romantic cash to buy yourself a few books…That is TOTALLY romantic!

If you don’t have yourself a hot date then it’s definitely not out of line to order yourself those same books. In fact, I insist! For any seasonal readers here, I have put together a list of 7 of my favorite Contemporary Romance Books to read this February. Feel free to buy one, or all of them, in honor of Valentines Day!

A List of Contemporary Romance Valentines Day Reads:

The Kiss Quotient

My Personal Favorite Contemporary Romance Book

Steam Level: 5 Flames

This is by far my favorite Contemporary Romance novel! The heroine of the novel, Stella, decides to hire a male escort to “teach” her in the ways of love. Essentially, this is a reverse Pretty Women story, and it is one of the most heart-warming contemporary Romances I’ve read. Stella has always had difficulty finding a connection with the people in her life and the men that she dates, and she feels this is due to having Asperger’s. She begins to slowly open up to Michael as the story progresses, and it is 100% relatable and endearing.

There are multiple rather steamy scenes though so if you like your steam level cooled a bit this might not be the story for you. Skipping over the sexy times is always an option though, and meeting Stella is worth it!

Get a Life Chloe Brown

Cute Own Voices Contemporary Romance

Steam Level: 5 Flames

Chloe Brown is living with a chronic illness and she finds herself spending most of her time alone inside her apartment…in other words, she feels that her life has become boring. She decides to create a list of 7 “bucket list items” that she wants to accomplish and she coerces her sexy motorcycle driving roommate to help her accomplish them. Only he doesn’t know that one of the items on her list is “to have meaningless but thoroughly enjoyable sex…”

If you enjoy a good dose of hilarity with your romances then this one might be just what you are looking for. It is Steamy with a capital S though!!!

You Had Me at Hola

Contemporary Romance set during a Telenovela

Steam Level: 5 Flames

I loved the concept of this Contemporary Romance SO much! The two main characters meet on the set of a telenovela, which is being produced with an all Latinx cast. It gave me Jane the Virgin vibes from the very beginning, and although it had some cheesy moments…I loved them. Telenovelas are supposed to be overly dramatic and the purposeful “cheese” factor only added to the setting.

I actually wished we had more of the telenovela script in the novel. It was fun to read the romance between the characters in the telenovela, and then see the relationship blossom between the actors playing those characters.

Red White and Royal Blue

LGBTQ Enemies to Lovers Slow Burn Contemporary Romance

Steam Level: 4.5 Flames

This was one of the most popular Contemporary Romance novels of 2019 and 2020 and there is a big reason why. It’s adorable! The story follows the romance between the First Son of the United States and the Prince of Wales. It is also both a slow burn romance AND an enemies to lovers romance. Plus it’s full of witty and snarky characters and I AM IN LOVE with them all! I would pretty much recommend this book to everyone, but especially fans of snarky romance books!

The Hating Game

Enemies to Lovers Contemporary Romance

Steam Level: 3.75 Flames

So, this isn’t TECHNICALLY a Pride and Prejudice retelling but any fans of P&P enemies to lovers’ trope will love this book. The two main characters are witty and sharp, and their banter is comical and believable. We get the additional trope of an office romance as well. I started this book at 8:00 one night and finished it by 10:30, so if you are looking for a quick one-night binge read this is your match. The end of the novel has a healthy dose of steam, but I kept the steam level down because the first ¾ of the novel are relatively steam-less.

Bridget Jones’s Diary

Bridget Jones Diary Contemporary Romance Valentines Day - Just Like Gilmore Girls
Chic Flick Contemporary Romance Low Steam

Steam Level: 2 Flames

I only need to produce one sentence to make this story a must read for everyone…This is a modern adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. There ya go, that’s all you need to know! Seriously though, Bridget Jones’s Diary came out in 1998 and it is still my favorite modern adaptation of P&P. The story revolves around Bridget, who works at Pemberley Publishing and is going through a small personal crisis.

She begins a Diary to get her life in order. The movie still wins my heart above all else, but the book is definitely worth a read if you have only seen the movie. It really isn’t all that steamy, but I added a couple flames due to some of the language involved. The language is spicy!!

Let me know what Books you are planning to read for Valentines Day this year!! I have big plans to read the Bromance Book Club books and A Court of Silver Flames this February.
